Champions League Final 2011, 2013 and 2017
Location: London Hotels & Venues, Wembley Stadium
The 2011 and 2013 Champions League Finals were both held in the UK at Wembley Stadium requiring transport solutions for VIP’s, Teams, Supporters, Staff and Guests. The Kings Ferry was appointed transport providers for UEFA, Ford, Heineken, Gazprom, Playstation, Borussia Dortmund Supporters (2013), Mastercard, a number of VIP’s and we also provided the coach requirements for the Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich Teams and delegations. This involved now only match day transfers but also airport transfers, hosting events, Champions League Festival transfers and VIP car transfers. In 2017 the contract was held in Cardiff and we were also appointed transport provider for UEFA again, Pepsi and Unicredit.
Upon each contract award, we immediately assigned a project management team to each client to ensure a personal service was provided. All of our partner operators were contacted to gather interest in working with us on the event as well as reserving a number of our own vehicles and drivers for the duration. Monthly internal meetings were held with our own project teams involved to discuss requirements and ensure we had sufficient resource in place as well as appropriate standby vehicle and driver levels. Client meetings also took place to arrange site visits, meetings with UEFA and the FA at Wembley as well as the parking teams at Wembley to arrange the layout of parking for each sponsor. We assisted all clients with coach routes and timings to assist with the planning of their schedules. A driver instruction pack was created and training with necessary “lead drivers” took place internally. Staff managed the majority of the requirements from our own offices but during the main event we dispatched over 30 ground staff working on-site at hotels, Wembley Stadium and the Champions Festival site to ensure all coaches arrived and departed according to schedules and the various ETA’s were reported back to the ground staff at the opposite ends ready to receive coaches, park in the correct position and begin unloading. Due to the vast number of coaches involved in this event signage was also key, so we ensured that all drivers had the correct signage on each vehicle to aid passengers in finding their correct vehicles.
We managed over 600 coach movements and 240 car movements for both the 2011 and 2013 Final and pre-event days.
