Hit the waves and catch the perfect break at one of these fantastic surf beaches in Cornwall.
Cornwall is Europe’s hotspot for surfers, attracting surfers from around the world to take to the waves.
Fistral Beach, Newquay
Fistral Beach is the epicentre of Europe’s surfing scene. Visitors can learn to surf from Fistral’s countless surf schools. While the regular 8ft swells attract some of the biggest names in surf. The annual surf festival Boardmasters transforms Fistral Beach bringing pro surf, skate and BMX competitions, including World Surf League contests.
Gwenver Beach, Penzance
Gwenver Beach is quite possibly the most exposed beach in England. Less than 2 miles from Lands’ End, Gwenver feels the full force of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s a secluded beach only accessible by foot, making it much less crowded than the nearby Sennen Beach.
Polzeath Beach, Padstow
Polzeath is a beautiful sandy beach, which in low tide spans around half a mile in all directions. It’s one of the safest beaches along this stretch of coast and has been awarded Blue Flag status. Due to its gentle shelving and sheltered beach, the waves here lack power making it perfect for beginners.
