Celebrating 30 Years at The Kings Ferry
We would like to say a huge congratulations to Mick Keohane and Jim Merchant for their 30 years of service at The Kings Ferry. Thank you both for your ongoing commitment and continued service.
In celebration of their long service both were presented with awards from Ian Fraser, Managing Director, along with ‘thank you’ letters and a delicious ‘30’ cake in the iconic Kings Ferry colours.
Mick Keohane started his journey in 1989 as an Auto-Electrician before being promoted to Workshop Foreman, Engineering Manager and Engineering Director. Mick has recently been promoted to Group Engineering Director, overseeing the engineer work across The Kings Ferry, Clarkes of London, Stewarts Coaches and Woods Coaches.
Summarising his 30 years, Mick says, “I have enjoyed my years here. I’ve seen such a positive change in the structure and operation of the business. We are now safer and more compliant than ever and that’s down to the sheer hard work and dedication of the team around me. It’s always a pleasure to work for The Kings Ferry, it makes getting up in the morning worthwhile.”
Jim Merchant started his work back in 1989 as a coach driver. With his vast experience and impeccable knowledge he has seen many sights across the UK and Europe. He has been a coach driver on the commuter service, VIP private hire and for corporate contracts such as the Orient Express. Nowadays, he spends his time driving a coach between two locations for our biggest corporate contract.
We spoke to Anthony Smith, Operations Manager, and Darren Cleaver, Assistant Operations Manager about what it’s been like having Jim around.
“Jim has always been reliable, he runs like clockwork – always on time and never untidy. He never causes us any trouble. He’s one of our go-to coach drivers”, says Darren.
Anthony states, “Jim has been in the business for a long time, he knows how the job should be done. He’s even taught me a thing or two when I first started. He likes to keep standards high. He will always turn up looking his best, shirt buttoned to the top, tie done perfectly. He’s always so proud to be part of The Kings Ferry.”
Both Mick and Jim are a credit to The Kings Ferry. We are so pleased they have supported us for the past 30 years, we look forward to the many more years ahead.
